What is The Boite Schools chorus?
The Boite Schools Chorus is an annual, un-auditioned chorus event presented by The Boite. Since 2004 The Boite Schools Chorus has performed in 15 major concerts across Victoria. Each year 800 young voices from upper primary and lower secondary schools and community youth choirs explore music and cultures of the world with their own choir leaders and then combine with singers from across the state in an exhilarating concert for peers, family and friends.
Students, teachers, parents and principals are all enthusiastic about this project because the music presented by our network of musicians is of excellent quality, inspires and entertains the students, comes with excellent teacher support, and is organised so that music is learnt by teachers and students, and becomes part of the school culture
Testimonials
'It’s really fun because we are learning new songs from another culture and learning some bits of language. We also like meeting other kids. The actions are really fun and give us confidence on stage'.
Balwyn North Primary School
‘It has been an unsurpassed musical opportunity for our students, most of whom were as young as 8 years old when we first took part. Not only have the students benefited from this experience but as their teacher it has given me an expanded awareness of the students’ learning potential that has enriched our in-school music programs’.
Boite Schools Chorus Teacher
"...a very special experience for all our students and we as teachers have also gained much from being involved. Preparing for the concert and seeing how amazingly responsive our students were to the challenges of learning the songs and actions, has expanded my vision of their creative learning potential...I also delight in the new found confidence the students have gained as a result of participating..."
Reah Monet - Port Philip Specialist School
'You get to perform...it makes you more confident...It makes you feel good about yourself... I have really enjoyed being part of the Boite Choir... it has been a big experience'.
