Karen Moreno sings traditional Venezuelan ‘tonadas llaneras’. She pays tribute to the late Simon Diaz, singer, composer, a national hero for his revival of Venezuelan "llanera" folk music. Karen will be accompanied by fellow Venezuelans, Daniel Jauregui, Alberto Escobar and Jesus Camacho on cuatro and harp to bring the tonadas to Melbourne.

Simón Díaz, died in 2014, singer, composer, comedian, actor, TV host, best known for his passionate revival of Venezuela's songs of the pampas or plains. His music was performed by major artists across the world from Argentina’s Mercedes Sosa and Brazil’s Caetano Veloso to Plácido Domingo. The Gipsy Kings controversially reworked his song Caballo Viejo (Old Horse), into their global hit Bamboléo.
