Melbourne Klezmer School

The Melbourne Klezmer School takes an aural approach to learning repertoire and style. We don't use sheet music, and we learn repertoire through singing and sometimes dancing as well. Our classes run from 7:30 - 9:00pm on Thursday nights (for more information, please visit here https://www.trybooking.com/events/landing/1273765). Our students range from high school students to students over 60 years of age. It is a warm and inclusive environment, with some professional musicians and music teachers attending as students, along with hobbyists. We also integrate musicianship skills into the lessons where needed or appropriate (aural, theory and ensemble playing, etc.), and use Klezmer modes to improvise.
