About the Event

ALWAYS LIVE and The Boîte, in collaboration with Artistic Director Deb Lowah Clark and Choir Director Stella Savy, are very proud to present Boite Voices: Maiem - Songs of the Torres Strait Islands.

Boite Voices is a massed choir project involving singers from all over Victoria who will come together under the Artistic Direction of proud Meriam artist and educator Deb Lowah Clark with special guests to perform traditional and original songs of the Torres Strait Islands.

This very special event will feature songs in English, Meriam Mir and Kala Lagaw Ya, and is a rare opportunity to experience the culture and stories of the traditional peoples of Zenadth Kes, the Torres Strait Islands.

Maiem will be presented in two performances.

Venue: Melbourne Recital Centre

Date: Saturday 30 November

Time: 7:00pm 

and 

Venue: The Goods Shed Terminus Theatre in Ballarat

Date: Sunday 1 December

Time: 2:30pm

We are proud to be teaming up with ALWAYS LIVE to help raise funds for their 2024 charity partner Support Act. This means that $1 from each ticket sold will be going directly to Support Act and the amazing work they do with music workers, artists and crew.

This event is part of ALWAYS LIVE, a state-wide celebration of contemporary live music supported by the Victorian Government through Visit Victoria.
