About the Event

The Boite’s emerging diverse artists’ showcase is part of their inaugural Portfolio Project initiative. With Music Victoria, The Boite facilitated networking and professional development opportunities for early career artists in Naarm.

Lineup:

Desmond Masé (Solo)

A multifaceted artist of the FuturePunk/DystopianSoul/SciFiHipHop genre. Desmond Mase documents mankind’s legacy of self destruction through his music and tells

tales of vivid fantasy grounded in an all too uncomfortable reality through his looping prowess. They've just released their new single 'REBEL'. now streaming in all music platforms.

Desmond is also an audio engineer who has worked with artists like Benny Walker and Dan Sultan.

Pratik Saurav (Trio)

A Data & Analytics Leader by the week and a musician by the weekend. Pratik's passion for music and performing arts dates back to his childhood. His music brings diversity, storytelling, and the craft from the beautiful cultures of the Indian subcontinent. He thrives on what he calls, 'Fusion music'. This technique enables him to bring together multiple languages, genres, and cultures. He primarily focuses on light Indian classical, Sufi, and classic Bollywood music with hints of pop, jazz, and blues.

Vikaye (Band)

Born and raised in Zimbabwe, Vikaye got her first introduction to music at home singing hymns at family gatherings. Post lockdown Vikaye is an emerging artist who sings at weddings and performs at Open Mics. She is working on releasing her own Soul and R&B music later this year. This showcase will see Vikaye collaborating with musicians from Melbourne Polytechnic, forming her band performing all original songs written by Vikaye.

VÉR (Band)

VÉR is a genre-bending solo project from Melbourne (AUS) artist and conscious storyteller, Rhyver Mores. Pulling inspiration from a wide variety of sources that range from R&B and trip-hop to Nordic metal and Sanskrit mantras, VÉR produces a unique and unmistakable sound. Having recently released their debut single "Mama" (The State of Things) and a full audio visual EP soon to be released. They will be joined by dancers and a string section, an extravagant performances not to be missed.

Pal Mar (Band)

Pal Mar is an emerging Latin Pop band formed in 2019, when Juan Pablo and Isabella met during their musical training at the EMMAT School of Music in Colombia. Their incredible passion for music and travel put them in the eyes of various audiences and to Australia. Isabella's astonishing vocal precision and tone mixed with Juan's effortless guitar playing takes you on a musical adventure to the tropics informed by Latin American rhythms. They've appeared on several media outlets and stages including SBS and Melbourne Fringe Festsival. Pal Mar have recently released their debut EP 'Rua'.

The Portfolio Project is part of The Boite’s vision for a music industry that creates opportunities for culturally and linguistically diverse musicians to be invited to our creative ecosystem. It aims to help create local connections and followers, foster an understanding of the Australian music market, build capacity to invest in self-promotion, create networks for early career support to build professional portfolios.
