About the Event
The Solomon Islands, a close neighbour to Australia, is a treasure trove of traditional music and song, largely unknown in Melbourne.
Natty Dolaiasi is one of the Solomon's most respected, long standing, traditional musicians with a career spanning decades representing his country at all major international festivals and events in the Pacific and has been active touring in Australia and beyond since 2018.  From the A’reA’re tribe in Malaita, Natty has extended his musical knowledge to embrace the musical traditions of the hundreds of islands of The Solomons.
Charles Maimarosia is a contemporary artist, like Natty, born in Malaita, Solomon Islands. He is the former lead singer, choreographer and songwriter of the globally successful band, Narasirato, who have brought their traditional bamboo panpipe band onto the world stage, toured to Glastonbury UK, Fuji Rock Japan, Austronesian Music Festival Taiwan, BluesFest Australia and countless more.
They'll be joined by special guests, Jimi Nare and Ron Reeves for a special evening of music from the Solomon Islands.
Currently in Australia, this is a rare opportunity to hear some of his extraordinary music.
This Boite event is funded by Live Music Australia – an Australian Government initiative.
