Connecting and inspiring through Sound, Song and Imagination, renowned Tibetan Australian musician Tenzin Choegyal's continues his latest national tour - Be the Ocean - with his only Melbourne performance at The Open Space in Abbotsford next Sunday eventing. Expect to be entranced and inspired by this magical blend of ancient and modern, East and West, as Tenzin presents songs ranging from traditional Tibetan folk songs to his projects in fusion and intercultural music. Tenzin plays the Dranyen (Tibetan lute) and Lingbu (transverse bamboo flute). His most outstanding instrument, however, is his voice. His music has been described as beautifully evocative, healing, and transcendent.
Over the past three years Tenzin Choegyal has collaborated on an astonishing series of albums with Philip Glass, Laurie Anderson and Patti Smith. In a career spanning 20+ years Tenzin has performed at festivals across Australia and curated numerous events and concerts. Internationally he has performed in New Zealand, Japan, India, Germany, Bangladesh, Russia and USA, including performances at New York’s Carnegie Hall. He has also opened many of His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s Public Talks in Australia, New Zealand and Japan with his musical offerings.
