Voices Unbound is a young singers' choir designed to bring together like-minded people from diverse ethnic backgrounds in a safe and nurturing space to develop connections across cultural and language boundaries.
It harnesses the power of song to explore identity and individuality, build confidence and stimulate collaboration.
Guided by sensational singer Ximena Abarca, Voices Unbound will meet every week and build a repertoire based on both the traditional and contemporary music of its members’ diverse cultural backgrounds.
The singers will develop their technique, learn the rhythms and harmonies of various styles of music and explore their own creativity to write and arrange songs collaboratively.
Ximena Abarca is a Chilean pop singer. In 2003 she won the first place in Protagonistas de la Musica (the Chilean “Voice”) which gave her the opportunity to perform at one of the biggest music festivals in Latin America: Viña del Mar. In 2007 she signed to be the voice “Kimie” in the American version of the children’s show “Hi-5”.
