World Music Cafe
The Boîte hosts regular, intimate, acoustic concerts that are a part of our artists' support program allowing performers to build an audience through regular performance opportunities, the acoustic nature of the event has suited a genuinely diverse cross-section of instruments and musical styles.
The World Music Café has been described as the ‘heart of The Boîte.’ Established in 1989 as ‘World Music Club’ in Port Melbourne, changed name to Cafe when moved to the location of iconic Mark St in 1990. Since its inception, The Boîte has presented high quality acoustic concerts in intimate live music settings in venues across Melbourne and regional Victoria. Diversity is the hallmark of these concerts, providing support for hundreds of local musicians, most of whom are from recent immigrant communities.
